Travel & Tourism thinking differently as it embraces the way forward

As Émilie Comeau-Sinclair, Executive Director Strategic Initiatives, Destination Development for Destination Canada, explains it: “Unlike traditional models that focus on minimizing negative impacts, using a regenerative approach to tourism envisions a positive, holistic cycle of growth and regeneration.”

And Comeau-Sinclair continues: “Through using a regenerative approach to tourism, the industry strives to be a catalyst for positive change, fostering resilience, cultural vibrancy, and environmental well-being in the places it touches.”

She also pointed out that: “While sustainable tourism aims to maintain a certain level of equilibrium, a regenerative approach to tourism aspires to actively contribute to the restoration and improvement of the destinations it touches.”
