TravelBrands Cancels 2020 Agent Appreciation Events

TravelBrands is cancelling its annual agent appreciation events for 2020.

Frank Demarinis, president and CEO of TravelBrands explained the decision in a statement to the industry.

Demarinis writes:

“Over the past few weeks, we at TravelBrands have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation and ultimately made the difficult decision to cancel our Annual Agent Appreciation Events for 2020. Our primary goal is always to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our partners, travel agents, employees and clients.”

“The travel industry is greatly affected by this unforeseen situation, and we are really disappointed we won’t be able to see you at our much-loved annual shows. However, we do not want to unknowingly expose stakeholders, suppliers and partners who attend these events from all over the world. Our choice to cancel the shows this year is a precautionary, yet necessary measure.”

Demarinis explained: “We want to make these events as enjoyable as possible and focus on all the exciting features TravelBrands has to offer, but the health of our clients, partners and colleagues is the highest priority for us.

“Our industry has faced different adversities and viruses before. We have overcome them in the past and we are confident we will overcome it again. We have a responsibility to showcase all of the wonderful and safe travel options available. We also have a responsibility to do our part to take preventative measures to avoid any possible health or safety concerns.”

And he continued: “With that said, it is important all travel industry members support each other during this time. We are confident that the travel community will come out of this stronger than ever – but we all must do our part in working together. TravelBrands remains committed to travel and tourism, and to create safe travel opportunities for all.

“As the COVID-19 situation continues to develop, our team will continue to monitor it very closely, and keep all stakeholders updated. TravelBrands is here to support all travellers, agents and suppliers alike.”

However, Demarinis pointed out that: We are still excited to unveil our latest product and platform innovations, and inspire our community. We promise you they will be available later this month. Our mission is to offer travel agents and travellers innovative solutions to fulfill all travel needs. We will always continue to build solutions for the travel industry to help you “work smarter, not harder.”

“We appreciate your flexibility and support during this time, and our thoughts remain with everyone affected by the COVID-19 situation.”

And TravelBrands president and CEO concluded:

“Lastly, I want to thank you all for the tremendous support you have given us regarding the shows, in what would have made this year’s events incredible. I’m already looking forward to next year’s shows.”
