TRIATHLETES HEAD TO WHISTLER FOR INAUGURAL IRONMAN

The Callaghan Valley, Whistler and Pemberton will transform into a grueling triathlon course for thousands of Ironman competitors this coming weekend. Whistler is in high gear for its largest event since the Olympics, welcoming thousands of athletes and their families to the Subaru IRONMAN Canada on Aug. 25. Visitors and residents alike can watch the action on the live video feed on large screens in the Whistler Olympic Plaza or alongside the course at one of the spectator viewing areas. The plaza will also host live entertainment, the Ironman Expo and a number of event-related activities.

The Ironman starts with a 3.8-km. swim, followed by a 180-km. bicycle ride and a 42-km. marathon. Athletes will begin the event at 6:30 a.m. and must finish by midnight, in order to claim an official Ironman title.
