Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours Launches 27th Season

Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours has hit the water for its 27th season taking adventure-loving passengers on rides through Niagara’s famous white water.

As the weather heats up and the season kicks into high gear, Whirlpool will add a one-of-a-kind, hybrid jet boat to its fleet that gives riders the option to get soaked from head to toe in the turbulent Niagara River or enjoy the same action-packed ride minus the drenching.

The Freedom Boat – offering the freedom to get wet or stay dry – features 14 wet seats on the front deck where riders are guaranteed to get doused with gallons of refreshing water while splashing through the lower Niagara River and 48 dry seats protected from the elements by a glass dome that offers the same stunning view of the Niagara Gorge.

“We’re really excited to give passengers a new way to experience Niagara and get their adrenalin flowing at the same time,” says Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours president John Kinney. “We’ve offered wet and dry trips in different boats for years, but now we have the flexibility to cater to passengers who want to get wet or stay dry on the same boat.”

Whirlpool’s newest addition is outfitted with three HTX-30 Hamilton Jets, which are powered by three 650-horsepower Scania engines, making it the fastest in its fleet of nine boats.

“This is the most sophisticated commercial jet boat operating anywhere in the world right now,” Kinney says. “The only other boats on the water that use these jets belong to the American Navy.”
