Women and Men Differ on the Most Beautiful Cities
CitiesBeautiful.org, a web site dedicated to providing people everywhere with a broadened and deeper understanding of civic beauty, recently surveyed people from around the world on their choices of the most beautiful cities, from among 25 cities on six continents, and the answers are interesting.
Concerning gender, the differences in the opinions of men compared to women were statistically significant. To cite a few examples:
- Cities much more frequently named beautiful by women than by men included Prague, Budapest, Sydney and Vancouver.
- On the other hand, cities much more frequently named beautiful by men than by women included Chicago, Athens, Hong Kong, and Fez.
- San Francisco, Rio de Janeiro, Kyoto and Jerusalem were cities named in approximately equal numbers by women and men.
