Iceland

ATOURZ, in association with The Canadian Institute of Travel Counsellors (CITC), is hosting an agent fam to Iceland Feb. 25 to March 1, 2012. The trip will explore the capital city of Reykjavik before setting out for a feast of natural wonders that includes national parks, hot springs, waterfalls, geysers, the famous Eyjafjallajokull Volcano, extraordinary rock formations and the blue lagoon. The fam is open to all members of the travel industry, however qualified CTCs and CTMs have priority acceptance. The minimum prerequisite is two years of travel-selling experience. Participation is limited to one counsellor per agency location. No companions or spouses are allowed. The land cost is $725 (twin share, including taxes) for CITC members ($875 for single accommodation) and $800 (twin share, including taxes) for members of the travel industry at large ($950 for single accommodation). This includes most meals as per the trip dossier, domestic flights, transfers and accommodations. Korea

Royal Scenic, Air Canada and the Korea Tourism Organization are hosting a “Korea Sparkles” CAS Educational fam trip. The trip departs on March 20 and returns on March 27. The trip will visit Seoul and Gyeongju and will include a DMZ Tour and the Gyeongju Historical District, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Prices start at $999 for CAS graduates and include round-trip economy airfare on Air Canada, six night’s hotel accommodation, most meals, airport transfers and sightseeing tours with an English-speaking guide. Thailand

Vancouver-based Chinapac International is hosting a nine-day fam to Thailand, departing Feb. 26, 2012. The trip visits the cities of Bangkok, Ayuthaya, Uthai Thani, Phitsanuloke, Sukhothai, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, highlighting the country’s Buddhist temples, relaxing rivers, lush jungles and simple village life. The Thailand tour will commence in the city of Bangkok, hitting up the capital’s famous sites and landmarks such as Grand Palace and Wat Po. Participants will also take part in an exotic market excursion to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. Ruins, temples and villages comprise the next agenda as guests travel up north to Phitsanuloke and towns on the way. One of which is Uthai Thani, a small, desolate town on the banks of Sakae Krang River that serves home to Wat Chantaram, an exquisite temple with crystal hall and golden grand shrine. Spread along the banks of the Nan River is the town of Phitsanuloke where guests will stay overnight before travelling to the Sukhothai Provincial Park UNESCO World Heritage Site. Another prominent town included in the program is Chiang Mai, dubbed as “rose of the north.” Finally, Chiang Rai. This quieter northern town is a place participants can gather some of the most memorable interaction with nature. The land rate is $799 for agents and $899 for companions. Vietnam

Transat Discoveries is hosting a Vietnam familiarization trip from May 3-14. The trip will present the company’s “Purely Vietnam” tour, visiting major attractions in Hanoi, Halong Bay, Ninh Binh, Vinh, Dong Hoi, Hue, Danang, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City. The cost is $1,695, plus taxes and fees of $410, based on double occupancy.
