European Waterways Welcoming Solo Travellers

While solo travel was once considered a niche market, it’s quickly becoming an industry phenomenon that today accounts for over 25% of travellers worldwide. But “going solo” doesn’t necessarily mean going it alone. This is especially true on luxury hotel barge cruises with European Waterways, where solo travellers can often be found among the guests.

Because European Waterways vessels hold a maximum of just 20 passengers, solo travellers are quickly made to feel “part of the family” by the like-minded passengers and friendly crew.

To welcome this “singular” segment of their clientele in 2023, European Waterways is waiving the single supplement on L’Impressionniste’s April 16, 2023 departure in Southern Burgundy and La Bella Vita’s April 16, 2023 departure in Italy. This represents a savings of $2,200 on L’Impressionniste, where cabin prices start at $5,959 per person, and $1,800 on La Bella Vita, where prices start at $4,550 per person.

The offer is valid when booked by Nov. 30, 2022.

Derek Banks, European Waterways’ managing director, said that: “Our cruises are ideal for solo travelers because the vessels’ small number of guests ensure they are never ‘lost in the crowd. Within hours of boarding, they become an integral part of the social dynamics, with everyone delighting in wonderful conversations, sharing gourmet meals and fine wine around an elegantly set table and, in the days that follow, participating as a group in unique and often exclusive excursions.”
