Intrepid steps up for the Grand Canyon
July 23, 2025

Intrepid Travel is stepping up for the Grand Canyon following devastating wildfires, with staff and travellers rallying behind recovery efforts and donations surging past expectations.
Doug Campbell, philanthropy director at Wildland Trekking — a specialist brand within the Intrepid Travel family — has already raised nearly US$10,000 for the Grand Canyon Conservancy.
With initial matching contributions, that figure has doubled to US$20,000, supporting the restoration of trails, wildlife habitats, and critical infrastructure.
To boost the effort further, The Intrepid Foundation has announced an additional US$10,000 in matching funds, meaning every dollar donated will now be matched up to US$20,000, potentially taking the total to US$40,000 for recovery efforts.
“The Grand Canyon is one of the most iconic landscapes on Earth and it needs us right now, ” said Leigh Barnes, Intrepid Travel president, The Americas. “Doug’s passion has inspired our community and this is exactly what Intrepid is about — travellers coming together to protect the places we love.”
All donations will go directly to the Grand Canyon Conservancy to fund restoration and conservation projects in the wake of the wildfires.
