No Change: Jamaica Tourist Board reassures Canadian partners

The Jamaica Tourist Board is reassuring travellers and its valued partners in Canada and the travel industry that there has been no change to Canada’s travel advisory designation for Jamaica after the Canadian government updated travel advice and advisories for Jamaica and other international destinations.

And it notes that for Jamaica specifically, the updates were editorial only, and the travel status of “Yellow: Exercise a High Degree of Caution” has not changed.

In its statement, the JTB points out that recent updates by media outlets were editorial in nature only, made periodically to improve clarity and readability. These updates are routinely shared whenever they are made.

And it states that unfortunately, such updates can sometimes be misinterpreted as significant changes.

The JTB emphasizes that Jamaica remains a safe, welcoming, and vibrant destination for all travellers. The safety and well-being of our visitors and locals are of the utmost priority. It’s important to note that only 0.1% of crimes in Jamaica involve visitors.

For decades, visitors have chosen Jamaica for its warm hospitality, rich culture, stunning natural beauty, and authentic experiences that create lifelong memories. Last year Jamaica welcomed over 4 million visitors.

We invite travellers to continue booking with confidence and with peace of mind, knowing that Jamaica provides a safe, sun and sea escape.
