According to the latest Longwoods International tracking study of American travellers, 48% of them are aware that next year is the country’s 250th celebration of its founding in 1776.

Amir Eylon, President and CEO of Longwoods International, pointed out that: “There is strong early demand for Americans to participate and travel next year as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday. And we expect interest in America 250 events to only grow from here, as more details about the various celebrations taking place across the country become known.”
As well, 50% of those who are aware of America 250 plan to visit historical sites and landmarks, and 46% expect to visit museums and other cultural attractions. And 42% want to attend events specific to the America 250 celebrations, while 35% will seek historical reenactments and other living history events.
Longwood International’s tracking study also found that demand for travel in 2026 continues at high levels, despite a softening in overall travel spending.
The study reported that 93% of American travellers still indicate travel plans to go somewhere within the next six months. Regional drive markets continue to have a prime opportunity as more travelers seek value for their money.
