Doing it in style: Malta makes and impression with Canadian advisors

As more and more consumers, including Canadians, look for opportunities to get off-the-beaten path on their travels, officials at Visit Malta are quick to point out that Malta can provide those travellers exactly what they’re looking for.
In fact, they brought that message – among others – as they hosted a Visit Malta Luxury Trade lunch at Alo Salon at Yorkville yesterday (March 10) for a select group of travel advisors specializing in selling luxury travel and clearly interested in adding Malta to the destinations that they offer to their luxury clients.
Led by Visit Malta’s Michelle Buttigieg and Francesca Camilleri, the group included Martina Abela – Citrus Luxury; Francesca Tonna – United Travel; Jason Camilleri Allan – Exclusively Malta; Andrew Strickland – The Phoenicia Malta; Neal Debono – ME HOTEL; Thomas Agius Ferrante – The Xara Collection; and Grace El Khoury Tavanti – AX Privilege Rosselli and was on a three-city North American tour that included stops in Toronto, New York and Chicago.
Buttigieg told the luncheon gathering that as off-the-beaten path travel gains increasing popularity, Malta is getting the attention it deserves as people want the kind of curated experiences that the destination can offer them.

She told the group of luxury travel specialists that Malta is a four-season destination and consists of three islands – Malta, Gozo and Comino – and is situated 58 miles south of Sicily and archipelago in the middle of the Mediterranean.
As for Canada, Buttigieg told Travel Press Today (TPT) that visitations from this market have been growing for the past couple of years, noting that Malta welcomes a lot of Snowbirds who stay anywhere from 20 to 30 nights on the island.
It was a relaxed afternoon as the partners switched places during the course of the meal, talking to advisors as they let them know what Malta had to offer their clients.
As for the takeaway, Buttigieg probably put it the best when she told the group that: “We are small, but that’s what makes us mighty.”
