Mexico Caribbean offers travel advisors’ clients a great holiday year-round

The Canadian representative for the Mexican Caribbean region says his destination remains a great part of the world for Canadians, even with winter now a distant memory.
Dave Cecco, vice-president Mexican Caribbean Canada, told a May 8 Toronto-area event that the sun-soaked region — which includes hugely popular Cancun and the Riviera Maya — remains a great vacation locale at “any time of the year.”
Its popularity with Canadians increases, naturally, in winter, with the upcoming winter seeing over 200 weekly flights between this country and Caribbean Sea-fronting Mexico, he continued.
Cecco told those on hand that the Mexican Caribbean has a large number of luxury resorts, and “there’s so much to do, so much to see” in the region.
“Whatever your client needs, it’s there,” said Cecco, who labelled the Mexican Caribbean the “vacation capital of the world.”
The region is great for weddings, Cecco stated.
Julieta Gomez of the El Cozumeleno Beach Resort on the island of Cozumel said that island is both “beautiful” and safe.
“Who has been in paradise?” she asked. “That means Cozumel.”
All rooms at El Cozumeleno have views of the ocean and the resort is “right in front” of a coral reef that makes it great for divers, she said.
Five pools are available for those who prefer fresh water.

Gabriela Benedetto of Majestic Resorts — which has two resorts in Costa Mujeres, just north of Cancun — said that guests who opt for that brand will find their Costa Mujeres stays free of timeshares and missing another feature found at some other area properties. “We don’t have golf carts because we don’t need them.”
Among the properties is the Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres, which Majestic Resorts says “introduces complementary sophistication and innovation to this picturesque, white-sand beachfront location located just 20 minutes north of Cancun. This spectacular resort offers a selection of spacious rooms and stunning ocean view suites combined with exceptional quality service as part of one of the best all-inclusive resort programs in Mexico including: unlimited visits to our restaurants that offer an amazing gastronomy experience, unlimited premium liquor, infinity pools with an ocean view, attentive butler service in The Club section and more.”
“It is super, super easy to sell,” Benedetto added of her brand.
Rebeca Bravo of the Hotel Association of Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres said a destination known for its beaches is actually multi-faceted.
“Obviously, Cancun is much more than sun and beach,” she said, adding archeological sites, adventure and diving are among things awaiting visitors.
The evening was also told by Manuel Paredes of Riviera Maya Hotels Catalogue in turn that those who vacation in the Riviera Maya will be appreciative of the hospitality they receive.
“We’re going to take care of them,” he stated. “That is our promise.”
