Christine James announces her retirement

After 27 years of dedicated service to the Canadian travel industry, Christine James, Vice President, Canada Travel Leaders Network, has announced her retirement, with her final day being Oct. 30, 2026.
For many across Canada’s travel community, the announcement marks the end of more than a career with one organization. It marks the closing of a remarkable chapter defined by relationships, advocacy, leadership and a genuine love for the travel industry.
Over nearly three decades, James has become a familiar and trusted voice within Canadian travel, working closely with travel advisors, agencies, suppliers, industry organizations and travel trade media.
Her perspective has frequently been sought by journalists covering the Canadian travel landscape, and she has been a valuable source of insight, context and commentary on the issues and opportunities shaping the industry.
James observed: “I feel incredibly fortunate to have spent 27 years in an industry that I truly love,” said James. “What I will treasure most are the people I have met, the relationships I have built and the many friendships that have grown throughout the years. Travel is an industry built on relationships, and I have been incredibly fortunate to experience that firsthand.”

Throughout her tenure with Travel Leaders Network, James has been a passionate advocate for the network’s members and a trusted partner to the supplier community.
Her leadership has contributed to the growth of the organization’s Canadian business with a particular focus on member recruitment, member service and building strong, collaborative industry partnerships. For those who have worked alongside James, her impact goes well beyond her title.
Lindsay Pearlman, President, Travel Leaders Network, said: “Christine has been such an important part of the Canadian travel community for so many years. Her service, leadership, and countless contributions over the past 27 years along with her commitment and genuine care for people have left an incredible mark on our organization and our industry. She will be greatly missed, and we wish her all the best as she begins this exciting new chapter.”
James’ career has coincided with enormous change in the travel industry- from the evolution of traditional travel agencies and the emergence of digital booking to unprecedented challenges and transformations that reshaped how Canadians travel and how travel professionals serve their clients.
Through it all, her commitment to the people behind the business remained constant.
Said James: “I have always believed that the strength of this industry comes down to the people in it. I have had the privilege of working with so many talented, passionate people over the years and I am incredibly proud of the relationships and memories we have created together.”
But after 27 years, one thing is certain: Christine James may be stepping away from Travel Leaders Network, but the relationships she built and the impact she has made will remain an enduring part of Canada’s travel industry story. Travel Leaders Network extends its heartfelt appreciation to James for her extraordinary service and wishes her every happiness and success as she begins this exciting new chapter.
Travel Leaders’ new Vice President, Canada will be announced at a later date.
