Korea Tourism Organization puts a show on in Toronto

The Korea Tourism Organization this past weekend put many of the aspects that have drawn international attention to the Asian nation on prominent display for Torontonians.

The organization staged K-Travel Fest: Hello Korea in downtown Toronto on Saturday and Sunday, showcasing Korean cuisine and culture alike, and enabling people to learn about popular Korean tourism venues, including Seoul, Busan and Jeju island, the latter popular because of its scenic beauty.

The free event also had Korean cultural performances, including ones of K-Pop, which has built and international following, and there were cooking demonstrations by prominent chef Song Hoon.

There were also performances of Korean drumming and the martial art of taekwondo.

Visitors could receive insights into Korean beauty treatments.

Korean food was also sold at the otherwise free event.

“We had really great visitor turnout and engagement on both days so we’re incredibly happy with the results. We had very positive feedback from guests,” said Hillary Nguyen of the KTO’s Toronto office.

“This is the first time we’ve held K-Travel Fest. We’re not sure if we’ll do the same event next year or not just yet, but we’ll for sure be continuing to actively promote Korea to Canadians on the consumer end as well as on the trade side.”

Korea has clearly made inroads in this country, welcoming over 250,000 Canadians last year.  This year’s number is expected to be higher.

“We’re very excited to see continued growth for Korea from the Canadian market,” Nguyen stated.
