Travel advisors confess in Goway’s new survey

Ever wondered what it’s really like to be a travel advisor? Well, Goway certainly has and it decided to find out what it’s like to be on the job in today’s world.

Now while plenty of surveys cover economic and business angles, Goway’s approach was to focus its survey on getting to the heart of a profession that involves being part strategist, part therapist, and part miracle worker.

Over 1,600 travel advisors across North America responded to Goway’s inaugural “Confessions of a Travel Advisor Survey” that captures the quirks, perks, confessions, and everyday realities behind the job, including the new voice in the room, AI.

The survey focused on four key areas:

  • Travel Advisor Superpowers
  • The Happiness Index
  • The Real Challenges
  • AI’s Seat at the Table

Some of the survey’s notable highlights included:

  • Staying calm under pressure is the top superpower in handling issues
  • 62% of respondents say receiving texts with pictures is their favourite client gesture
  • 89% of advisors reported that their clients have come to them with their own AI research
  • The most underestimated part of the job is how much time it takes to plan properly
