Discover Airlines set to connect Edmonton-Frankfurt in summer 2027

Discover Airlines is introducing a new nonstop flight between Edmonton International Airport and Frankfurt Airport in the summer of 2027.

The airline – a member of the Lufthansa Group – will operate three weekly flights between the two cities beginning June 1, 2027, providing Alberta travellers with a direct connection to Germany, and onward travel options throughout Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

Dirk Janzen, Lufthansa Group Vice President of Passenger Sales, the Americas, said: “We are thrilled to bring Discover Airlines to Edmonton and expand Lufthansa Group’s offering in Canada. This new nonstop connection to Frankfurt gives travellers from Alberta direct access to one of Lufthansa Group’s key hubs and, from there, to our extensive global network.”

The inaugural flight 4Y070 is scheduled to depart Frankfurt on June 1, 2027, at 1:05 PM and arrive at Edmonton International Airport at 2:30 PM. The return flight 4Y071 will depart Edmonton at 4:15 PM and arrive in Frankfurt at 9:05 AM the following day. All times are local.

Discover Airlines will operate the Edmonton–Frankfurt route with an Airbus A330-300 offering up to 283 seats, including 30 Business Class seats with full lie-flat beds, 28 Premium Economy seats and 225 Economy seats. With three travel classes to choose from, passengers can enjoy a comfortable and high-quality travel experience tailored to different preferences throughout the journey.

In Business Class, passengers benefit from an all-inclusive experience, with meals and beverages included. Premium Economy includes complimentary meals, non-alcoholic beverages and a selection of beer and wine. In Economy Class, all meals and a range of soft drinks are included, while alcoholic beverages, including a wide selection of cocktails, can be purchased from the onboard bar, which is available to both Premium Economy and Economy passengers.

In addition to the onboard dining options, passengers can enjoy a comprehensive entertainment offering with personal screens at every seat. All classes have free and unlimited access to a wide selection of films and TV shows. Internet access is available for purchase across all travel classes.

Starting next year, the entire long-haul fleet of Airbus A330s will be gradually equipped with the new “Ocean Blue” cabin. With this, Discover Airlines is introducing its latest product generation across all three travel classes. All Discover Airlines aircraft will also be equipped with Starlink’s high-speed internet in the future.
