Caribbean Airlines launches first, nonstop Toronto-Tobago flight

That’s the sounds of celebration that you’re hearing as Caribbean Airlines launched its first nonstop flight from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to Tobago’s A.N.R. Robinson International Airport (TAB).
The new weekly service offers Canadian travellers direct access to an unspoiled Caribbean island renowned for its extraordinary natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and warm hospitality.
The inaugural departure from Toronto was celebrated by a delegation led by Korice A.Q. Nancis, Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Tobago Tourism Agency Limited (TTAL), alongside representatives of the Tobago House of Assembly and Tobago’s tourism sector.
The flight also marked another exciting development for the island, with passengers arriving through Tobago’s newly opened international airport.
Until now, Canadian travellers heading to Tobago typically connected through Trinidad or another Caribbean hub. The new service eliminates that connection, strengthening Tobago’s ties with one of its most important international markets and making the island more accessible for winter escapes, extended holidays, and visits with family and friends.
The Honourable Farley Augustine, Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly, said: “We wanted to create a direct route to paradise for Canadians, and that is exactly what this new service delivers. Canada is an important market for Tobago, and travellers can now fly directly from Toronto and discover an island that still offers the Caribbean the way it used to be: unspoiled, welcoming, and full of character.”
Caribbean Airlines operates the new route every Sunday, with nonstop service from Toronto to Tobago aboard flight BW615 and return service aboard BW614. The southbound flight takes approximately five hours and 35 minutes.

But There’s More …
The new Toronto service follows another major milestone for Tobago: the opening of its new A.N.R. Robinson International Airport in Crown Point.
The airport represents a major investment in the island’s tourism infrastructure, providing a modern gateway for international visitors and supporting future tourism growth.
Spanning approximately 25,500 square metres over two storeys, the airport features modern check-in and baggage handling systems, passenger boarding bridges, premium lounges, and expanded retail and dining facilities. Designed to accommodate up to three million passengers annually, it also celebrates Tobago’s cultural heritage through traditional imagery and dedicated spaces for local vendors to showcase their products and flavours.
Korice A.Q. Nancis, Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Tobago Tourism Agency Limited, observed: “The introduction of nonstop service from Toronto represents an important step in strengthening Tobago’s accessibility and growing our presence in the Canadian market. For travellers, it makes choosing Tobago simpler. For the destination, it creates new opportunities to connect more Canadians with the experiences that distinguish our island; our warmth, natural heritage, culture and communities.”
Unlike many of the Caribbean’s larger resort destinations, Tobago has retained a strong sense of place and an easygoing rhythm all its own.
Visitors can explore the UNESCO-recognized Main Ridge Forest Reserve, established in 1776 and considered the oldest legally protected rainforest reserve in the world; wade in the crystal-clear waters of the Nylon Pool; snorkel Buccoo Reef; or discover an island renowned for its extraordinary diversity of birdlife, including its dazzling hummingbirds.
Beyond its natural beauty, Tobago offers authentic community experiences, from the rhythms of steelpan and village traditions to a distinctive culinary scene shaped by a rich blend of cultural influences. It is a Caribbean escape that invites visitors to slow down, connect with local life, and discover an island refreshingly removed from the mainstream.
