Air New Zealand ‘Pleased To Seat You’
Premium Economy, Economy Skycouch Coming to YVR Flights
Air New Zealand brought its “Pleased To Seat You” road show to Toronto this week showcasing the airline’s refitted Boeing 777-200 aircraft, featuring the award-winning Economy Skycouch and new Premium Economy seats.
The new products will be available Oct. 25 on flights operating the Vancouver-Auckland and Houston-Auckland routes.
Air New Zealand has eight 777-200ERs which are progressively having their interiors completely stripped out and replaced as part of a $100 million fleet refurbishment project.
The refurbished aircraft features Air New Zealand’s new luxury leather Premium Economy seat – 40 in total in a dedicated cabin – which recently debuted on the airline’s 787-9 Dreamliner and nine rows of the Economy Skycouch product. The airline’s Business Premier lie-flat bed and Economy seat round out the inflight product offering.
The Economy Skycouch (pictured below) is a trio of seats in which passengers can stretch out and relax. It’s a flat, flexible space providing extra legroom and even allows couples to lay down – kind of like a couch.
Chris Allison, Air New Zealand manager, sales and market development, Canada, told PressToday that the Skycouch product has proven very popular.
“It’s like using a sofa at home and is perfect for couples or families with young children,” he said.
Also on board is a new Panasonic eX3 seatback inflight entertainment system with improved resolution and touch capabilities.
