Activity Sked Drives Vegas Visit
Las Vegas as a Disneyland for adults is becoming increasingly diverse, as discovered during a recent trip there by PressToday editor Ted Davis.
And as the profile from gaming destination to playground gains momentum, arrivals continue to grow, shattering visitor records over the past two years. Arrivals of 41.1 million last year broke the previous benchmark of 39.7 million established in 2012, and the count is on pace to set a new record in 2015.
Davis added to the stats by attending a selection of mostly adrenalin-charged activities through three busy days in Vegas. For instance, he climbed into the cab of excavator tractor at Dig This and learned how to operate the machine for a morning of Dig and Destroy; he donned ear muffs and protective glasses before firing a variety of weapons ranging up to an AK-47 in a shooting gallery at Machine Guns Vegas; he piloted a Ferrari F430 on a professional closed circuit with a racing instructor for five scorching laps at Exotics Racing; and he staggered from the cockpit of a high performance aerobatic aircraft after a 20-minute session of rolls, loops and stalls at Sky Combat Ace. Whew!
The only calmer outing was a visit to the desert, at the stunning Red Rock Canyon national conservation area, located about 45 minutes from downtown Vegas. A guided drive with Pink Jeeps Tours circled though the park, making leisurely stops that permitted brief hikes, and gave the rare opportunity to enjoy the beauty and silence of the desert in the warm winter sunshine.
