Good Deeds, Well Done

Agents and various other industry members were in a generous mood during the Transat Sun Academies cross-Canada tour in September, contributing a total of $6,300 to SOS Children’s Villages.

That organization, present in 134 countries, is the world’s largest charity providing loving homes for children who have been abandoned or orphaned.

Nicole Bursey, commercial director for Transat Tours Canada, said: “A big thank-you to all the advisors who gave so generously to this cause that we care so much about. We already know that this money will go toward helping children who really need it.”

All Sun Academy participant-donors were eligible to win an all-inclusive holiday package at a Hard Rock Hotel.

There were four lucky winners: one from Quebec, one from Ontario, one from Atlantic Canada and one from Western Canada.

They are:

  • Quebec: Nathalie Mirasse, CAA-Quebec
  • Ontario: Pam McLeod, CAA Pickering
  • Atlantic: Jen Borden, Sears Travel, Halifax
  • Western Canada: Marcia George, Carlson Wagonlit

Transat has been a SOS Children’s Villages partner since the fall of 2009.

This organization became the first humanitarian cause to be supported by the entire company, as a way to show Transat’s commitment to communities in its origin and destination countries.

Transat has given a total of over $2 million to the organization since the beginning of this association.
