A Cricket Match To Remember

Goway is on the go.

The tour operator’s cricket team defeated an Air New Zealand team 115 to 75 Tuesday in the annual Toronto match the two firms hold, with yesterday’s game being the 16th such competition.

Cricket is a popular sport in New Zealand and many of Goway’s employees are from countries where the game is hugely popular.

“This is one of those fun events that I look forward to every year,” said Goway’s Sam Cottar, who would have had a lot of exposure to cricket growing up in India. “Everybody gets to play.

“It’s not about winning or losing. It’s all about camaraderie and friendship.”

Goway’s Aubrey Schmidt was another employee who took to the Toronto Cricket Club field, and confessed that he isn’t the most knowledgeable person about cricket.

But he added participants don’t have to have a deep understanding of the game to play.

“I wouldn’t call this the World Series of cricket,” he said. “But everybody has a great time. The sun was shining.”

Baxter Media’s Mitchell McClung was also among those on the Goway team.

The event took on a festive atmosphere, with a large number of people on hand. They were treated to food, beer and wine by their hospitable hosts.
