ACTA will mark 50th with National Summit, cross-Canada events and more in 2027

2027 is going to be a big year for Association of Canadian Travel Agencies and Travel Advisors (ACTA) as it celebrates its 50th anniversary with a landmark National Summit on Sept. 9, 2027, at the Toronto Congress Centre.

Marking five decades of leadership, advocacy and service to Canada’s travel agencies and travel advisors, ACTA is planning a year of special events and initiatives celebrating its history, recognizing its members and industry partners, and looking ahead to the future.

Suzanne Acton-Gervais, President of ACTA, observed that: “For 50 years, ACTA has proudly represented Canada’s travel agencies and travel advisors, championing their interests and strengthening our industry.”

And Acton-Gervais continued: “Our 50th anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate our collective achievements, recognize the people and partnerships that have brought us here, and look ahead to the next 50 years.”

Traditionally, ACTA hosts annual regional Summits in Toronto, Montréal and Vancouver, however, for its milestone anniversary in 2027, the association will bring these three events together into one major National Summit, creating a unique opportunity for Canada’s travel community to gather and celebrate together.

Said Acton-Gervais: “We want to make our 50th anniversary an exceptional celebration of our industry and the people who make it so successful. Bringing our members and industry partners together from across Canada and beyond will make this a truly memorable occasion.”

Registration for the September 9 National Summit will be complimentary for all ACTA members

And recognizing that members will be travelling from across Canada, ACTA is working with airline and hotel partners to explore preferred rates for flights and accommodations to help make attendance more affordable.

ACTA is also committed to incorporating bilingual content into the National Summit program and is exploring technology-enabled interpretation and translation solutions to support participation in both official languages.

Plus, throughout 2027, ACTA is planning a series of regional round tables across Canada, bringing together travel agencies, travel advisors, suppliers and industry partners. These business-to-business events will provide opportunities to build relationships, strengthen business connections, explore new opportunities and foster collaboration across Canada’s travel industry.

ACTA is also planning a special 50th Anniversary Gala in Montréal in support of ACTA’s advocacy initiatives, bringing together members and industry partners from Quebec and across Canada.

The gala will celebrate ACTA’s legacy, recognize the contributions of Canada’s travel trade and support the association’s continued advocacy on behalf of travel agencies and travel advisors.

Further details, including the date, venue and program, will be announced in the coming months.

ACTA’s anniversary year will also feature international immersive educational experiences, continuing the association’s commitment to professional development, destination expertise and strengthening relationships with international tourism partners.

Destinations and program details will be announced as plans are finalized.

Acton-Gervais said that: “ACTA’s 50th anniversary is about more than celebrating our history. It is about recognizing the strength of our industry, celebrating the people who make it extraordinary and looking ahead to an exciting future together.”

And she concluded: “We invite our members and industry partners from across Canada to be part of this milestone celebration, to connect, be inspired, leave energized and help shape the next 50 years of our industry.”

Further details regarding National Summit registration, programming, sponsorship opportunities and anniversary events will be announced in the coming months.
