Advisors discover the wonders of Minor Hotels
The team from Minor Hotels, led by Leandro Cruz, Director of Global Sales and Lakshan Samarasinghe, Assistant Director of Sales, welcomed a group of close to 50 travel advisors – all specializing in luxury travel – for a stylish evening of education and networking at the ONE Restaurant in Toronto’s Yorkville neighbourhood last night (April 15).
Cruz offered advisors attending the event a ‘deep dive’ into Thailand-based Minor Hotels and its 558 properties in eight brands that are spread out across the globe.
Brands include Anantara, Avani, Elewana, Tivoli, NH, NH Collection, nhow and Oaks, with Cruz pointing out that Minor Hotels owns a lot of its assets, in fact, it owns half of its hotels.
Asked about the name, Minor Hotels, Cruz told the story of the company’s founder, William Heinecke, who at 17 tried to register his business in Thailand, but was told he couldn’t because he was a minor. Thus, the name Minor Hotels.
Since then, though, the company and its brands have become well known to luxury travel specialists, with Minor being a member of Virtuoso, Signature, Ensemble and other programs.
Also of note, Cruz pointed out that three of Minor’s properties – Anantara Lawana Koh Samui, Anantara Mai Khao Phuket and Anantara Bophut Koh Samui – were featured in Season 3 of The White Lotus.
Along with Asia, advisors also learned about Minor’s properties in Africa, Europe and in North America, where Cruz told them that while the company only had one hotel in North America – in New York City – at the moment, it is looking at expanding here.
Stay tuned, there’s bound to be more from Minor Hotels.
