After a remarkable career, VisitBritain’s Lynda Falcone retiring in April

Lynda Falcone, VisitBritain’s National Travel Trade Manager-Canada, is retiring in April of this year.

Falcone, who joined VisitBritain in the spring of 2008, has had a long and remarkable career in the industry.

She told Travel Press Today that she began her career in 1977 with a summer job as tour guide, while completing a French degree at Carleton University, and observing that: “It changed the course of my career.”

After graduation, Falcone accepted a summer job at Maligne Lake in Jasper and stayed for 5 years working for Brewster and taking a travel agent course at SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute for Technology).

Following that, Falcone became a Tour Director for Thomas Cook in Peterborough, England taking Brits across Canada.

She then worked as a travel agent at Admiral travel in Ottawa and has since worked in sales at a variety of disciplines, and companies within the Canadian travel industry, including:

  • Airline – Wardair
  • Hotel – Carnival Hotels and Casinos Caribbean hotel division
  • Tour Operators – Contiki, and Transat
  • Tourist boards — Puerto Rico Tourism, Visit Florida, Greater Ft Lauderdale CVB, Kenya and for the last 17 years as the National Travel Trade Manager for VisitBritain

As for her retirement plans, Falcone told TPT that while she had nothing concrete in mind, she has already signed up for golf lessons and is looking at taking some language classes – French, a Spanish refresher and would like to learn Italian.

Falcone was born and raised in a small town (Ville Lorraine), north of Montreal. And she has merged her passion for travel with her life with her husband and son.

A remarkable career and a well-deserved retirement.

Enjoy it Lynda.
