About 50 travel agents and tour operators were on hand for an early morning breakfast hosted by the Israel Government Tourist Office (IGTO), El Al and Fattal Hotels yesterday. The event provided those attending with an update on the latest news from both IGTO and El Al, plus a primer on Fattal Hotels and its numerous properties in Israel.

After presenting an upbeat video, Israel: Seeing is believing, that showcased the destination’s cities, culture, natural wonders, history and lots more, Melman told her audience that so fare in 2015, Israel had welcomed 57,000 Canadian visitors. She also said that IGTO was targeting 75,000 visitors in 2016, observing: “I believe that we can get there.”

El Al’s Jacob Mazgaonkar offered agents and operators attending an update on the latest on the carrier, pointing out that the airline now operates four routes from North America, with Boston being the newest addition. And he noted that with all of the things that are going on at the airline, he fully expects to see additional North American non-stop flights being launched.

Mazgaonkar also updated his audience on El Al’s onboard service, the popularity of its Economy Plus product and the fact that it has ordered 15 Dreamliners – a combination of 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft – with delivery of them expected in the latter part of 2017.

Moshe Elazar, director of sales for the North American market for Fattal International Hotels & Resorts, provided agents and operators with an overview of what Fattal Hotels has to offer their customers visiting Israel.

Fattals’ brands in Israel include Herods, U Hotels, Magic, Rothschild and Leonardo. The company has 32 properties located throughout Israel, with the Leonardo brand having the most locations.

The company also offers a number of special packages that include a Stay & Drive package, A 5 Wonders of Fattal package, Long Stay Reduction program, reductions for groups, Bar and Bat Mitzvah programs, plus city breaks in both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

In fact, with all its locations throughout the country, Elazar told his audience that Fattal was a “one-stop shop” for agents and their clients, offering them “location, location, location” along with great hospitality and service.

On a sad note, just before the presentation began, IGTO’s Ellen Melman and El Al’s Dinah Kutner paid tribute to David Freudman of Uniworld Travel in Toronto, who passed away suddenly late last week. Following a moment of silence, both described him as a “special person,” with El Al’s Kutner observing: “David, you will be missed, but you will never be forgotten.”
