Air Canada Inaugurates New Routes

Air Canada has inaugurated daily, year-round flights from Vancouver to Taipei, Taiwan, the carrier’s 10th destination in Asia.

“Air Canada is very pleased to return to Taipei, an important and significant economic centre, as part of our ongoing global expansion,” said Benjamin Smith, president, Passenger Airlines at Air Canada. “Our Taipei flights are operated with our state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliners featuring our industry-leading international services. The strategic addition of these daily year-round flights strengthens our YVR trans-Pacific hub which combined with our extensive North American network, provides convenient options and a competitive elapsed travel time between North America and Taiwan.”

The carrier has also begun seasonal, three times weekly service to London Gatwick operated by Air Canada Rouge with Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.

And, Air Canada has launched new Rouge flights between Montreal and Marseille, France. Flights will be operated through Oct. 13 using an Air Canada Rouge Boeing 767-300ER, featuring premium and economy cabins.

In related news, Air Canada is launching new service to Cartagena along with increased frequency to Bogota this winter, making it easier than ever for travellers to visit and explore Colombia.
Both the weekly non-stop service to Cartagena, subject to government approval, and the service to Bogota will be operated by Air Canada Rouge.

“It is never too early to start planning an escape from the Canadian winter, and Air Canada is pleased to give customers more options to consider with the launch of a new Air Canada Rouge route to Cartagena. This nearly 500-year-old city on Colombia’s Caribbean coast offers visitors prime urban, beach and adventure tourism,” said Smith. “With this new route, along with our year-round Toronto-Bogota increasing to five- from four-times weekly this winter, Air Canada will offer the best coverage of the Canada-Colombia market, with the most seats and frequency.”

The new, non-stop Toronto-Cartagena flights will operate with a 136-seat Air Canada Rouge Airbus A319 aircraft offering two cabins of service, Premium Rouge and Economy. Flights will depart Toronto each Monday starting Dec.18 until April 9, 2018.
