Due to an expected huge winter storm, Air Canada has issued a travel alert regarding flights to a large section of the US Eastern Seaboard and Canada, including Boston, New York and Philadelphia.

The US National Weather Service is using terms like “life-threatening” and “historic” in regards to the storm, which could see high winds and as much as three feet of snow fall in some areas. Flight delays and cancellations are to be expected. More than 6,000 flights have already been cancelled.

Air Canada and Air Canada Express (operated by Jazz) have waived fees for travellers wishing to cancel or change their flight plans.
