Etihad Airways marked a major milestone in its history last night (Oct. 30, 2015), celebrating 10 years of service to Canada and doing it in style.

The Abu Dhabi-based carrier hosted about 100 travel trade VIPs, along with representatives from its codeshare and equity partner airlines, such as Jet Airways and Alitalia at Toronto’s swanky, Four Seasons Hotel.

Special guests included the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) His Excellency Mohammed Saif Helal Al Shehhi and Consul General of the UAE, Sultan Ali al-Harbi.

Etihad’s senior vice-president — the Americas, Martin Drew and it’s general manager – Canada, Craig Thomas offered a warm welcome to those attending, with Drew observing: “Canada is an important market for Etihad Airways and we are pleased to commemorate a decade of service to this market.”

Drew continued: “With approximately 200 Canadian companies and more than 42,000 Canadian national residents in the UAE, these businesses and residents look to Etihad Airways to provide a world-class, hospitality experience across every class of service when they travel with us.”

And to enhance the experience for its Canadian customers transiting Abu Dhabi, the UAE capital, Drew told his Toronto audience that the airline had recently introduced schedule changes that see it increasing the number of connecting flights to and from the Indian sub-continent.

He noted as well that Abu Dhabi’s strategic position as a global air transport hub has been further strengthened by the convenience of Etihad’s onward services to a growing list of destinations.

“Etihad Airways has been successful in Canada because we offer an award-winning product with an unmatched level of attention to detail and service that sets the airline and its employees apart and we look forward to what the next 10 years will bring,” Drew said.
