ASTA Offers Advice to Aspiring Travel Agents

An online course designed to help guide individuals interested in pursuing a career as a travel agent is now available from the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA).

Students will learn about the travel industry in general, as well as tips on how to begin a career as a travel advisor. For $25, anyone can take the “Becoming a Travel Agent” online course. The tutorial is designed for people who are entrepreneurial in spirit, have great social interaction and interpersonal skills and have always wanted to play a role in the industry.

The course explains the skills needed, explains the dynamics of the travel industry and the multiple travel agency business models and where to find training options. The course is presented by Amanda Cecil, Ph.D, CMP, Undergraduate Program Director & Associate Professor of the Department of Tourism, Conventions and Event management at Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis.
