Avianca changes its age rules for younger travellers

Avianca is changing its policy on carrying passengers 14 years of age or younger. As of today (May 15, 2024) the airline will only carry passengers 14 years of age or younger if they are accompanied by their parents or a responsible and duly authorized adult over 18 years old.

The change applies on Avianca’s domestic and international flights, ticket sales and the boarding of passengers.

If tickets were purchased before May 15, 2024, passengers will board after approaching the airport counter to complete their check-in process.

With the implementation of this policy, Avianca indicated that the minimum age for a minor to travel unaccompanied by a responsible adult (over 18 years old) on flights operated by Avianca is 15.

And the airline is recommending that all of its customers confirm the requirements or authorizations necessary for the departure and entry of minors with the corresponding immigration authority of each country. Additionally, it reiterates that the service of unaccompanied minors or minors recommended is not provided on any of its routes.
