Barbados Celebrates Its Travel Agent Partners

The Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) hosted some of its top travel agent partners at the Oistins North Pop Up Kitchen, located at JC’s Grill House in Mississauga last week (Sept. 8)

Agents enjoyed an immersive cultural experience which showcased some elements of Barbados’ rich history and culture including music, local cuisine and rum and really provided those attending with a ‘Taste of Barbados.’

Along with being treated to local delicacies and Bajan sweet treats, those attending the event also had the opportunity to take photos with the costumed revellers that provided a highlight of the island’s signature festival which is the Crop Over festival.

As Barbados is the birthplace of rum (Mount Gay is the world’s oldest rum company dating back to the 18th century), a highlight of the event included a mixology session on how to make a Barbados rum cocktail.

During the ‘Bajan Lime,’ a term used to mean a social gathering, Barbados seized the opportunity to promote the upcoming Food and Rum Festival slated for Oct. 27 to Oct. 30.

Additionally, agents were reminded of other exciting events including the Barbados Jazz and Golf Excursion Weekend (Oct 6 to Oct.10) and the Run Barbados Marathon Weekend scheduled for Dec. 10 and Dec. 11.

Prize giveaways included gift baskets and airline tickets to Barbados.
