BC Employees First Award To Accent Inns

Accent Inns Inc. of Victoria has won the 2019 Employees First Award, presented by the BC Tourism Industry Association at its recent annual conference.

The award recognizes a British Columbia tourism industry employer that has upheld high standards of excellence in human resources and people management practices. It was presented as part of a gala during the BC Tourism Industry Conference in early March.

Accent Inns won due to the emphasis it places on employee empowerment and customer satisfaction, encouraging employees to have fun and spread positivity. In terms of staff turnover and job longevity, some 22% of staff have been employed at an Accent Inn property for more than 10 years.

Accent Inns has five locations in Victoria, Vancouver Airport (Richmond), Burnaby, Kelowna and Kamloops, while the sister brand Hotel Zed operates in Victoria and Kelowna.

“We are thrilled and honoured to have won the Employees First Award,” says Mandy Farmer (pictured), CEO and president of Accent Inns Inc. “The happiness of our staff has always been the most important metric when considering our culture.”

Accent Inns Inc. has been owned and operated by the Farmer family since 1986.
