Bestway Touring The Balkans


Bestway Tours & Safaris has just unveiled a new, 24-day journey to Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, including the Republika Srbska, Kosovo, Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro, Croatia and Slovenia. The tour showcases the region’s cultural and ethnic diversity, along with the natural beauty of the Western Balkans, including visits to 16 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

The “Balkan Mosaic” tour has been segmented, giving travellers the choice taking of the whole tour or joining one or more segments. The first leg of the tour explores Belgrade, Serbia’s capital, followed by a ride on a historical steam train and a visit to Visegrad in the Republika Srbska. Travellers will also visit Mount Zlatibor National Park and the Studenica and Sopocani Monasteries in Serbia.

The tour then explores Kosovo, Europe’s newest country with visits to Pristina, the capital and the Medieval Monuments in Kosovo World Heritage Site, followed by stops in Skopje and the ancient town of Ohrid in Macedonia.

In Albania guests discover the museum-city of Berat, Durres, the capital Tirana and Kruja; before heading to Montenegro to visit Budva, Cetinje and the heritage city of Kotor.

In Bosnia & Herzegovina guests will explore the old Ottoman bridge in Mostar, the Catholic pilgrimage centre of Medjugorje and the historically significant capital Sarajevo.

During the second leg of the tour guests will explore Croatia, starting in Dubrovnik on the Adriatic Sea, followed by visits of the historical cities of Split, Trogir, Sibenik and Zadar.

Guests will explore Plitvice, sixteen lakes joined by a series of waterfalls and Zagreb, the capital. The third leg of the tour includes Istria, Rijeka, Pula, Rovinj and Porec in Croatia. Finallt guests will visit the Lipica Stud Farm, Postojna Cave, Ljubljana and Bled in Slovenia.

As the tour is divided in segments, costs range between US$ 2,370 and US$ 10,760 and include ground transportation, superior hotels, 45 meals and guided tours in English. Tour departures are on May 24, July 5 and Sept. 13, 2014; with additional departures scheduled for May 23, July 4 and Sept. 12, 2015.
