Beverly Cheng named new Director, Canada of the Hong Kong Tourism Board

Beverly Cheng has been named the new Director, Canada for the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
Cheng, a Toronto native, will be based in Toronto and brings a global perspective shaped by more than a decade living and working in Hong Kong. With a career spanning arts and travel journalism, international hospitality communications, and cultural institution leadership, she brings deep expertise in storytelling, strategic marketing, and destination branding to the role.
She began her career in Hong Kong as an arts journalist, immersing herself in the city’s dynamic creative scene and witnessing its evolution into a thriving global arts hub. She later held senior communications roles with global hospitality brands, including Marriott International, where she led communications for a portfolio of 16 hotel brands across Asia Pacific. Most recently, she served as Head of Marketing, Communications and Visitor Experience at The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery in Toronto.
Cheng is deeply connected to Hong Kong — both personally and professionally – snf id passionate about showcasing the city as a world-class destination for Canadian travellers. From its award-winning culinary scene and vibrant arts and culture landscape to its easy access to nature, vibrant events, and seamless connectivity, Hong Kong offers a rich and dynamic travel experience.
Of her appointment, Cheng said: “It is truly an honour to lead Hong Kong Tourism Board in Canada, a role that is deeply meaningful to me. As both a Torontonian and a Hongkonger, I am excited to help Canadians rediscover Hong Kong through its unique energy, culture, world-class dining, arts, and natural beauty.”
In her new role, Cheng will focus on strengthening partnerships and delivering compelling, insight-driven campaigns that inspire Canadians to experience Hong Kong through stories and moments that can only be found in the city.
She obtained a Master’s degree in Arts Management from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Art History from University of Toronto. She is fluent in English, Cantonese, and French, with intermediate proficiency in Spanish.
