Bora Bora’s legendary Bloody Mary’s set to open in September

For more than four decades, Bloody Mary’s has been part of the rhythm of Bora Bora. Since opening in 1979, the iconic restaurant has welcomed generations of travellers, locals, artists, sailors, and well-known faces drawn by its relaxed spirit and unmistakable atmosphere.

Sandy floors, shared tables, fresh fish on display, and nights that often lasted longer than expected made Bloody Mary’s more than a restaurant. It became part of Bora Bora’s story.

This September, a new chapter begins with the opening of Bloody Mary’s Hotel, an experience rooted in the spirit that made the original a destination in itself while extending it into a new way of staying in Bora Bora.

Set along the lagoon with iconic views of Mount Otemanu, 53-key Bloody Mary’s Hotel introduces an experience where island life unfolds naturally.

Guests will discover accommodations designed around openness and ease, comfort and simplicity, dining experiences that celebrate local flavours and global influences, and spaces that invite connection, movement, and simple moments lived well.

The legendary Bloody Mary’s Restaurant remains at the heart of the experience, joined by new concepts including overwater restaurant Povai Bay, a lagoon-side dining destination where French cuisine meets island ingredients, and Tiki Tide Bar, a lively gathering place for cocktails and conversation as the day softens into evening.

Just a short ride away, La Bella Matira, set along Bora Bora’s most celebrated shoreline, Matira Beach, brings another perspective to the Bloody Mary’s experience. Inspired by the warmth and generosity of Mediterranean dining, the restaurant blends vibrant flavours, sun-filled plates, and a lively spirit in one of the island’s most iconic settings.

Rather than reimagining Bloody Mary’s, the project – under local ownership – builds upon what has always defined it: authenticity, warmth, and a sense of belonging.

General Manager Julien Bressolles explained: “Bloody Mary’s has always been about people. The stories shared around a table, unexpected conversations, and moments that become memories. Bloody Mary’s Hotel simply creates more room for those moments to happen.”

More than a hotel opening, Bloody Mary’s Hotel represents the continuation of a Bora Bora legacy, shaped by decades of connection to the island and its community.

Opening in September 2026, the property is located on Povai Bay, Bora Bora, French Polynesia and will feature 53 rooms, bungalows and suites; 3 restaurants & bars and room service; a Fitness bungalow, swimming pool and beach corner; Complimentary scheduled shared shuttle to Matira Beach and Vaitape; Marina; and Concierge services.
