BRECKENRIDGE SLOPES OPEN FOR BUSINESS

The countdown is over and winter is officially underway in Breck as skiers and riders took to the slopes Nov. 8 as Breckenridge Ski Resort opened for its 52nd season. This season, Breckenridge will have one of its most landmark years ever, as the resort adds more than 216 hectares to its famous landscape with the new Peak 6 expansion. Peak 6 will include 160 hectares of lift-served terrain and 57 hectares of hike-to terrain, representing a 23% increase in the resort’s skiable acreage. The expansion will feature high-alpine, intermediate bowl skiing — a rare find in North America. Peak 6 lifts and terrain should open along with the majority of the resort’s upper mountain terrain in mid-to-late December, weather dependent.

Breckenridge will offer a new exclusive opportunity for guests staying in official resort lodging properties this winter. The “First Tracks Fridays” program will allow guests staying at Breckenridge Ski Resort properties to access the mountain one hour before it opens to the general public on Friday mornings throughout the 2013/14 winter ski season.
