Building of Scenic Eclipse Begins
Scenic marked the official start of production of the world’s first Discovery Yacht, Scenic Eclipse, with a steel cutting ceremony at the Uljanik Shipyard JSC in Pula, Croatia last month.
The 228-passenger ultra-luxury mega yacht, designed especially for polar expedition cruising conditions, is scheduled for its maiden voyage in August 2018.
“This is a momentous day for Scenic,” said Glen Moroney, chairman. “To see our vision start to come to life is very exciting and we look forward to watching the build progress over the next 18 months. We are extremely proud of the ship’s design and its advanced technological features, and can’t wait to share Scenic Eclipse with our guests in 2018.”
The Scenic Eclipse will able to go to the most remote of destinations in a luxury not seen before in expedition ships. Just a sampling of its luxuries includes a near 1:1 guest-to-staff ratio, six restaurants, numerous spacious bars and lounges, a 5,000-sq.-ft. spa, a well-equipped gym, multiple pools, all-verandah suites that range from 350 to 2,500 sq. ft., a 240-seat theatre, two helicopters, a seven-seat submarine and more.
