Record numbers turned out this week for the Greater Toronto Area leg of Vacation.com’s annual fall regional regional conferences.

Typically divided into Toronto east and west sessions, this year also saw the first Canadian young professionals event in downtown attract 20 agents and four suppliers. More than 260 agents and close to 50 suppliers populated Markham and Toronto airport events, which included educational sessions, dinner and trade show, and keynote address from G Adventures’ Denise Harper.

The events were also attended by John Lovell, president and CEO Travel Leaders Group and Vacation.com VP, Canada, Christine James (pictured with Lovell), who reports that business is booming for the Canadian chapter of the agency group with 64 new members joining the fold this year and over 740 in total.

“Travel agents are very much alive,” she stated.

Vcom will hold similar events in Calgary on Oct. 20 and Richmond, BC, on Oct. 22.

Meanwhile, plans are already being made for Vcom’s annual international conference, to be held May 22-26, 2016, at the Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood, Fla. (Fort Lauderdale).
