Calgary leads the way

Calgary’s tourism industry has again led the nation’s major metropolitan centres for visitor spending growth, according to a report by the Conference Board of Canada. This is the second consecutive year that Calgary has topped nine metropolitan markets across Canada. In 2012, Calgary welcomed over 5.2 million visitors spending $1.4 billion at attractions, restaurants, hotels, shops, festivals, etc. Hotel occupancy has grown for 21 consecutive months, with overall occupancy up 4% and weekend occupancy up 3.8%. Both the Calgary Stampede and Calgary Zoo set new records for attendance in 2012. (http://www.visitcalgary.com)
