California: Absolutely Golden For Canadian Agents

California has a simple message for the Canadian market these days – Canadians are welcome and travel agents and tour operators are an integral part of bringing more of them to the Golden State, reports executive editor, Bob Mowat in a special 16-page supplement on California in this week’s digital edition of Travel Courier.

And, as Caroline Beteta, president and CEO of Visit California, observed during a recent visit to Toronto, Canadian travel agents and tour operators continue to be “a very, very important part of the sales and transaction process because they actually connect all of our unique experience offerings to the consumer.

As for what attracts Canadians to California and why agents should sell it, Beteta responded, “There are so many experiences. We’re kind of blessed with an embarrassment of riches in terms of products and I think that’s what’s so great.”

She told Travel Courier (TC), “Whether you’re looking for beaches to wine country to our wonderful theme parks, our iconic cities, our winter experiences – no matter where you are in California – you can do everything in the world in California and at all price levels.”

Visit California’s president and CEO pointed out that while a lot of Canadian visitors focus on outdoor experiences, the state also offers a wide range of culinary options, spa and resort destinations, a host of family friendly and multi-generational options and it has just launched a host of new “super affluent” luxury experiences.
