Canadian North has unveiled a multi-tiered growth plan that reaffirms its commitment as the leading airline in the North.

The airline has announced the following enhancements:

!!! Introduction of a seasonal, non-stop service between Iqaluit and Halifax with same-plane service to St. John’s, Nfld., effective June 20.

!!! Reintroduction of a new cargo aircraft from Ottawa to Iqaluit, effective March 19.

!!! Reinstatement of a free luggage allowance of two bags a 33 kg each for all jet passengers, effective immediately.

“Offering additional flights to Iqaluit brings greater access for investment, business travel, tourism and freight, enabling continued economic development across Nunavut. Additionally, reinstating our free luggage allowance of two bags at 70lbs (33kg) each on our jet aircraft is a major step towards improving our service and competitiveness,” said Steve Hankirk (pictured), president at Canadian North. “These changes represent our renewed commitment to the people and prosperity of the North.”

Canadian North will utilize the Boeing 737-300 aircraft, configured with 136 seats, to serve the new Iqaluit to Halifax and St. John’s routing that will operate every Friday from June 20 to Sept. 5.
