Canadians brave the cold, but want a break

Canadians-winter-Feb3

While Canadians may pride themselves on their ability to brave the cold, a new Scotiabank poll discovered that 76% of Canadians say that winter is their least favourite season.

And 80% said they’d “love to be travelling to warmer climates.” Yet the Scotiabank poll found that less than half (44%) had yet to book a last-minute trip, and only 3% plan to use reward points to pay for the majority of their trip expenses.

Scotiabank’s vice-president of credit cards, Jennifer Douglas observed that, “Taking a vacation is the ultimate remedy to the snow shovelling and frigid temperatures that we have experienced, and using travel rewards is a great way to plan and pay for a trip faster.”

In this respect, Douglas pointed out that, “With the Scotiabank suite of American Express cards, customers can quickly turn routine purchases into travel rewards that can be easily redeemed to get away from winter sooner — or plan future trips — with flexible point redemption and booking options, and without blackout periods and high fees.”
