The Travel Industry Council of Ontario has been advised by CanJet Vacations’ executives that it has ceased operation.
“Technically TICO is expecting to receive a signed voluntary termination of their registrations held – we have not received this yet and expect to receive this today – so technically they are still ‘registered’ with TICO,” said TICO’s Dorian Werda.
Werda said no consumers will be affected and there are no outstanding refunds and no consumers are “in destination.”
Speculation about the tour operator’s survival has been ongoing. CanJet had lured travel industry veterans Robbie Goldberg and John Kirk to oversee a CanJet Vacations program, but CanJet conceded that a competitive market was proving tough for the tour operator, which began business last winter.
