What Caring Looks Like

WestJet is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its signature community investment program, WestJet Cares for Kids, with the release of its newest video, Celebrating 10 years of WestJet Cares for Kids.

The video does the math on the number of flights the program has donated to its charitable partners since its inception in 2007.

Through some serious arithmetic, the video’s young star demonstrates that over the past 3,650 days, the airline has donated 65,000 flights or approximately 18 flights per day to its partners.

Richard Bartrem, WestJet vice-president, marketing communications, said:

“The math is simple: 65,000 gifts of flight through 10 years of WestJet Cares for Kids equals thousands of children and families benefited.”

Bartrem continued:

“But the gift of flight is more than a ride on an aircraft. It’s a flight for a family to be with their sick child, it’s seats for investigators who are working to find missing children, it’s a journey that creates hope, and it’s the cost of air travel back in the pockets of our partners to continue their missions of making a difference in the community.”

And he added:

“On behalf of our more than 12,000 WestJet owners, we are thankful for the enthusiasm and care our eight charitable partners have for positively impacting young Canadians. We look forward to the next 10 years of WestJet Cares for Kids and many more flights benefiting children’s health and wellness.”
