IATA is urging governments to close legal loopholes that allow unruly passengers to escape law enforcement for serious offenses committed on board aircraft.
Governments gathered for a diplomatic conference at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal this week to discuss revisions to the Tokyo Convention. The revisions would enhance the ability of law enforcement and other authorities to prosecute the small minority of passengers who are violent, disruptive, abusive, or acting in a manner which might endanger safety.
The Tokyo Convention was negotiated in 1963...

Sabre is now selling Qantas’ Advance Seat Selection.
The airline is selling its ancillary product through the Sabre global distribution system using industry technology standards developed by ATPCo and IATA.
The electronic miscellaneous document (EMD) standard allows an agent to efficiently purchase an airline’s ancillary products on behalf of travellers in the same way they would a base airfare. This helps airlines generate revenue by making their ancillary products broadly available and easy to buy in all channels.
Hans Belle, Sabre Travel Network vice-president, APAC, said...
