Tourisme Montreal has released its summer traffic results, reporting that Greater Montreal hotel occupancy rates, Quebec border crossings and air passenger traffic at the Montreal airport have all increased. For the period of May to September, Greater Montreal hotel statistics show that the average hotel occupancy rate was 77.50%, an increase of 2.17 percentage points over last year. Air Canada rouge says “Buenos Dias” to Mexico starting today (Oct. 10) with flights between Toronto and Cancun six days per week. And beginning Dec. 19, rouge will operate two flights daily between Toronto and Cancun, with convenient morning and afternoon departures. Officials of the Iolani Palace said that the attraction will not be affected by the recent US federal government shutdown. In a statement, officials said that the operations of the Palace are conducted by the nonprofit group, The Friends of Iolani Palace, and funded through ticket sales, sales from the Palace Shop and donations. KEMPINSKI SET FOR AFRICAN EXPANSION
Kempinski Hotels has announced plans to expand its portfolio of luxury hotels in Africa. With two new properties opened in Kenya this year, Kempinski looks to add five more hotels to its African portfolio in the next year.
