CLIA Makes A Commitment

In this week’s Canadian Travel Press, Montreal editor, Mike Dunbar reports that the appointment of Dwain Wall as senior vice-president of agency and trade relations of Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) is a key element in the organization’s ongoing commitment to the travel agency community.

That was the message delivered to 1,200 retailers attending this year’s tenth anniversary cruise3sixty conference and trade show by CLIA president Christine Duffy.

And Wall himself told the sold-out show that his most important project is to shore up the value proposition that comes with membership in the world’s largest travel agency association, which currently counts more than 50,000 individual retailers.

Wall revealed, “We will be giving our members preferential access to familiarization cruises and schools-at-sea as part of our policy to deliver exclusive benefits to our CLIA agents.”

The new-minted SVP also listed a series of membership pluses created recently by the Washington DC-based organization. According to Wall, those pluses include a new, more user-friendly website, a specialty sales guide, a new training format featuring on-line exams and a rebranded CLIA Cruise Week promo effort, which this year runs from October 6 to 13.
