CLIA opens Hall of Fame nominations
Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has opened nominations for the 10th annual Cruise Industry Hall of Fame, with 2014 inductees to be honoured at a gala dinner on April 5, 2014 during the 10th anniversary cruise3sixty conference and trade show.
The only official North American cruise conference from CLIA, cruise3sixty is expected to draw record-breaking numbers of attendees and exhibitors as part of the anniversary celebration to take place April 2-6 at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale.
“Being inducted into the Cruise Industry Hall of Fame is a special honour in the industry,” says CLIA president Christine Duffy. “The annual Hall of Fame Dinner & Awards gala at cruise3sixty is a favourite among all who attend as we honour the achievements of individuals whose efforts and accomplishments represent exceptional contributions to the success of the cruise industry.”
The Cruise Industry Hall of Fame annually recognizes individuals who are selected based on nominations from CLIA’s membership, followed by a review by the CLIA Trade Relations Committee. Nominations for 2014 are being accepted until Jan. 22 for candidates in three categories: “Outstanding Past or Present Cruise Industry Executive,” “Outstanding Past or Present Cruise Retailer” and “Cruise Sales Innovator.”
Nominations are based on the following considerations:
!!! Did the nominee’s accomplishments change or affect the cruise industry in a positive way?
!!! Can the nominee be considered a positive role model?
!!! What did the nominee accomplish that sets him or her apart from others in the industry?
In 2013, the inductees for the Cruise Industry Hall of Fame included cruise industry veteran and former president of Regent Seven Seas Cruises Mark Conroy for the Cruise Line Executive award; Michelle Fee, co-founder and CEO of Cruise Planners — American Express Travel for the Travel Advisor award; and Michael Drever, founder of CruiseShipCenters International Inc. for the Travel Advisor Innovator award.
