Committed To Low Fares

WestJet plane- April 29

WestJet is taking off with a new seat sale effective today through Sept. 22, 2014, on flights and vacation packages for travel to select destinations in Canada, the U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean until December 10, 2014.

Bob Cummings, executive vice-president, sales, marketing and guest experience, said: “We remain dedicated to being Canada’s low-fare leader and this seat sale supports our commitment to providing a full range of fares and corresponding value from Econo through to our Flex and Plus fares. We said on Monday [Sept. 15] that we would lower Econo fares and offer even lower seat sale fares, and we’re doing exactly that.”

WestJet announced a $25 first-bag fee on its Econo fares on Sept. 15, while indicating that the unbundling of the fare would allow for lower sale fares. The first-bag fee applies only to the Econo fare bundle whereas Flex fares include the first bag free and Plus fares include two checked bags.

Guests who have the WestJet RBC World Elite MasterCard will be exempt from a first-bag fee for up to nine people on the cardholder’s reservation, while WestJet Rewards members who are in the Silver and Gold tiers are also able to check a first bag at no charge. WestJet’s bag fee applies only to Econo fares for travel within Canada and between Canada and the U.S.
