Cruise Lines Cancel Sailings Due to Texas Emergency

As Houston continues to deal with an emergency situation due to flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey – the city is still seeing rising waters and search and rescue efforts are continuing – several cruise lines have had to make adjustments to their schedules.

Royal Caribbean International diverted Liberty of the Seas to Miami when conditions at the Port of Galveston did not permit safe travel. The cruise line is anticipating Liberty will be able to return to Galveston on Friday, conditions permitting.

The next sailing of Liberty of the Seas, scheduled for Aug. 27 has been cancelled. All guests will receive a full refund on cruise fares and be provided a future cruise credit.

At Carnival, three ships were impacted by the storm – Carnival Breeze, Carnival Freedom and Carnival Valor.

Due to the extreme conditions, Carnival cancelled the Aug. 26 sailings of Carnival Valor and Carnival Freedom, and the Aug. 27 departure of Carnival Breeze. Affected passengers will receive a full refund and receive a future cruise credit.
